DESCRIPTION:First launched by Dr. Robert “Bob” S. Sherwin\, the inaugural 
 director of the Yale Center for Clinical Investigation\, the Robert S. Sh
 erwin YCCI All Scholar Day is a celebration of the center’s educational p
 rograms and the accomplishments of the trainees and scholars at all level
 s. Now in its 21st year\, the YCCI has supported more than 239 junior fac
 ulty members. The scholars\, 99 percent of whom remain engaged in researc
 h\, continue to successfully compete for independent grants (including ~5
 40 NIH grants) worth over $1.4 billion. The successes of the program are 
 a reflection of Dr. Sherwin’s visionary leadership\, tremendous dedicatio
 n\, and passion for training the next generation of clinical and translat
 ional researchers. Please join us for this year’s combined celebration of

 n Friday\, May 8 starting at 8:30 a.m. in the Conference Center at 101 Co
 llege Street. The keynote speaker is Barry Coller\, MD\, of Rockefeller U
 niversity. Dr. Coller is Physician-in-Chief Emeritus\, David Rockefeller 
 Professor of Medicine\, Head of the Alan and Francis Adler Laboratory of 
 Blood and Vascular Biology\, and Co-director of the Rockefeller Universit
 y Center for Clinical and Translational Science and Clinical Scholars Pro
 gram. He is known for his research in platelet physiology and for develop
 ing a monoclonal antibody that inhibits platelet function\, which was eve
 ntually developed into Abciximab that has since been used to treat millio
