DESCRIPTION:In this workshop\, we will explore the evolution of AI from Al
an Turing's early work to contemporary systems. Participants will learn a
bout different types of AI and gain a clear understanding of what AI is a
nd is not. The session will also cover the AI coding tool landscape. Atte
ndees will learn best practices for creating effective prompts and verifi
cation\, as well as recognizing and avoiding common pitfalls. During the
 hands-on portion\, attendees will process a public dataset using Yale's A
I Clarity LLM and the Positron native IDE assistant. The session will inv
olve completing a coding task through prompting\, iterating\, and debuggi
ng with the aid of AI tools. Cookies and coffee will be provided. The lea
rning objectives for the workshop include: Foundational AI Literacy: Expl
ain AI's evolution from Allen Turing to the modern day\, distinguish betw
een AI system types\, and better articulate what AI is and isn't. Underst
and the AI coding tool landscape\, learn best practices for prompts and v
erification\, and identify and navigate common pitfalls. Process a public
dataset using Yale's AI Clarity LLM and Positron native IDE assistant to
complete a coding task through prompting\, iterating\, and debugging. AI
Tool Access. This workshop will include exercises using Yale’s AI Clarit
y LLM \, which is available to Yale affiliates. Participants who have acc
ess to other large language models (LLMs) are welcome to use those instea
d if they prefer. If you do not have access to an LLM\, we will provide a
pre-generated response that you can follow along with during the exercis
 e. Please note that we are not able to provide participants with access t
o an LLM for the workshop session.\n\nAdmission:\nFree\n\nDetails URL:\nh
