DESCRIPTION:The past decade has seen the global expansion of chikungunya a
nd Zika viruses as well as the largest dengue epidemics ever reported. Th
e talk will address some of the key drivers of this increase\, analytical
tools to assess risk\, and key questions to better understand the future
dynamics and long-term contral startegies. Michael Johansson is a resear
ch professor at the Northeastern University Bouvé College of Health Scien
ces and the Network Science Institute\, adjunct lecturer at the Harvard T
H Chan School of Public Health\, and affiliated researcher at the Centers
for Disease Control and Prevention Division of Vector-Borne Diseases. He
uses statistical and mathematical modeling to investigate the dynamics a
nd drivers of infectious disease spread with a focus on research to impro
 ve surveillance\, prevention\, and control for endemic\, epidemic\, and e
 merging pathogens.\n\nSpeaker:\nMichael Johansson\, PhD\n\nAdmission:\nFr
