DESCRIPTION:This talk will present a research agenda to advance the study 
 of implementation mechanisms resulting from a 3-year conference grant fun
 ded by the Agency for HealthCare Research and Quality (R13HS025632). Impl
 ementation mechanisms are the processes through which strategies exert th
 eir effects\; they explain how strategies work. Establishing implementati
 on mechanisms can help optimize implementation for equity\, impact\, and 
 efficiency. Yet\, empirical investigations of implementation mechanisms r
 emain rare due to conceptual\, methodological\, theoretical\, and practic
 al challenges. This talk will offer concrete\, actionable priorities and 
 possible actions that can rapidly advance this line of inquiry to have a
