EMD Seminar Series: Ruth Montgomery - "Multi-OMIC System Profiling Reveals Signatures of Divergent Clinical Outcomes"

Many infections can be mild for the majority of people and severe or fatal for only a minority of individuals. In our lab, we take advantage of advances in sample-sparing multi-omic approaches to define cellular and molecular signatures corresponding to resistance or susceptibility to infection. With longitudinal sampling beginning with acute infection, we have gained insights from defining effective immune responses even from a small sample size. Multi-omic systems immunology may inform future investigation of specific cellular mechanisms and novel preventative and therapeutic approaches to mitigate severe disease in susceptible people.
