Addiction Medicine Rounds: Toxicity of Xylazine and How It Impacts Treatment for People Who Use Drugs

The Yale Program in Addiction Medicine is pleased to welcome Joseph D'Orazio, MD, as speaker for Addiction Medicine Rounds on November 22nd, 2022.

Title: Toxicity of Xylazine and How it Impacts Treatment for People Who Use Drugs

Learning Objectives:

  1. Recognize the human pharmacology of xylazine, a veterinary sedative.
  2. Differentiate between the findings of xylazine and opioid overdose and demonstrate ability to treat them.
  3. Recognize symptoms of xylazine withdrawal and apply basic treatment concepts.

Addiction Medicine Rounds are CME accredited. Each session will be assigned 1AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM.
