YSPH EMD Seminar Series: "40 Years of HIV Vaccine Development: Lessons Learned"
The rapidity with which vaccine developers have made COVID-19 vaccines has led many to ask why HIV vaccine development has taken so long. HIV vaccine developers have experienced repeated failure using the standard approaches to vaccine development. This has forced them to consider immune responses in greater depth and detail, and it has forced funders to consider new funding strategies. Much has been learned that actually contributed to the rapidity of COVID vaccine development and may contribute to the development of other, harder to develop vaccines.
